Generously Compassionate
True compassion towards others, especially when there is disagreement, is the most powerful offering we have to give. It is likely the only thing that will grow in another person as a seed of love. It does have a positive effect even if we never see it's growth. The other part of this offering of compassion is, to give it generously without attachment to outcomes. This nonattachment frees us from judgment and allows the seed to settle and grow where it is best served, and can have the greatest impact. Continuing to mind our own business and keep growing, and sharing more love through compassion.
This may look like when we are in a conversation, and someone brings up something that you totally disagree with, and can't even understand how the other person has figured out their viewpoint. The key in these types of situations is to listen with great curiosity and ask powerful questions from the point of curiosity and not judgment. This gives each person the opportunity to discuss something while not making it personal as if it was just thoughts, which they are. Everything is just thoughts that come from all kinds of influences and experiences. If we can remind ourselves that we are not our thoughts and therefore thoughts are not who others are, we will all be more likely to continuously learn and grow authentically and free ourselves from the feeling of being in a state of conflict with others and even ourselves.
Another way of having success without attachment to outcome is, to go into every conversation and situation skeptical of your own thoughts and the thoughts of all others. Allowing yourself to fully listen for the answers and understandings that often lie within the unspoken. Remember to truly listen, acknowledge and validate.
